(For Ages 8 to 12) This bike riding camp provides a hands-on, educational way for children to master the art of bicycle riding. Boy and girls welcome! Groups are formed, determined by ability. Under the supervision of American Inline coaches, campers receive instruction in braking, steering, shifting, pedal cadence, climbing and descending hills, negotiating obstacles, riding small ramps, safety and rules of the road. Daily activities include group and private instruction, confidence courses and tours on the bike Arlington bike path when ready. Some groups may ride as far as the Lincoln Memorial. In addition to improving skills, this bike camps gives children a chance to socialize and interact with their peers getting away from the TV and into the great outdoors. Participants receive a camp T-shirt and sticker. Bring bike without training wheels, helmet, bike gloves, hydra-pack and or water bottles, lunch and snacks in cooler with ice packs and labeled with name. Staff to participant ratio: 1:8. Ages 8-12. Prerequisites: Participants must be 8 years old at time of camp and be able to ride confidently for extended periods of time without the assistance of training wheels.

Sample Daily Schedule – Bike Riding Camp
8am to 9am - Morning extended care (optional)
8:45am to 9am - Arrive and gear Up
9am to 9:50am - Group bike riding instruction: helmet fitting and bike check, starting, braking, stopping, steering, sharp turns, controlling speed down hills, climbing hills, pedal cadence and shifting, gaining speed, negotiating obstacles, curbs, rules of the road and more.
10am to 11:50am - Bike riding confidence courses and group instruction
12 noon to 12:30pm - Lunch
12:30 to 1pm - Alternative activity (Bike Maintenance, Arts & Crafts)
1pm to 1:50pm - Guided bike rides, games and tours.
2pm to 3pm - Group & private instruction

3pm to 5:30pm - Afternoon extended day (optional) – activities include swimming at W&L pool, (probably two or three days per week, depending upon pool availability at the time we submit reservation in May), arts & crafts, kick ball or other various activities which may include age appropriate videos during inclement weather.

Prerequisites: Participants must be 8 years old at time of camp and be able to ride confidently for extended periods of time without the assistance of training wheels. Optional AM and PM Care Available. PM Extended day activities include swimming at Washington-Lee HS (two or three days per week, depending upon pool availability) arts & crafts and kick ball. Ride our rip sticks and long boards at the camp site.
